"The 29th District contains more than 130 of New York State's 1,971 total dams," said Rep Kuhl. "71 of them are considered "high" to "significant" hazard dams. That means if there's a failure, there's a high risk of death and destruction according to the American Society of Civil Engineers. Upon passage, the Dam Safety Act would provide the necessary resources to reduce the likelihood of future dam failure."
